Steven Wilson – The Raven That Refused to Sing and Other Stories [Full Album] (2013)

Steven John Wilson (born 3 November 1967) is an English musician and producer, best known as the founder, lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. He is involved in many other bands and musical projects both as musician and producer (including No-Man and Blackfield) and also maintains a solo career. In 2010, Wilson began writing music alongside Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt for their project, Storm Corrosion.

Wilson is a self-taught producer, audio engineer, guitar and keyboard player, playing other instruments as and where required (including bass guitar, concert harp, hammered dulcimer and flute).

He used to split his living time between London and Tel Aviv, Israel,[1] but no longer holds a permanent residence in the latter.[2]

The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories) is the third solo album by British musician Steven Wilson, released by Kscope Music Records on 25 February 2013. Each track on the album is based on a story of the supernatural. Alan Parsons, well known in part for his involvement in Pink Floyd‘s The Dark Side of the Moon, was responsible for engineering the album.[1][2]

There is a deluxe 4 disc edition of the album, which is “a 128 page hardback book containing lyrics and ghost stories, illustrated by Hajo Mueller”.[2] In addition to this, the album is also available in stand alone double-vinyl, CD and Blu-ray editions.[1]

The Mars Volta – Cicatriz ESP

The Mars Volta was an American progressive rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001. The band’s final lineup consisted of Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, producer, direction), Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals, lyrics), Juan Alderete (bass), Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (keyboards, percussion) and Deantoni Parks (drums). The band formed following the break-up of Rodriguez-Lopez and Bixler-Zavala’s previous band, At the Drive-In. They are known for their energetic live shows and their concept albums.

In 2009, the band won a Grammy Award in the “Best Hard Rock Performance” category for the song “Wax Simulacra.” In 2008, they were named “Best Prog-Rock Band” by Rolling Stone magazine.

In September 2012, it was announced that The Mars Volta had entered a hiatus, with Rodríguez-López and Parks forming a new project, Bosnian Rainbows. Four months later, the band announced their breakup.

Radiohead – In Rainbows (Full Album)

In Rainbows is the seventh studio album by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It was self-released on 10 October 2007 as a download via a pay-what-you-want model, followed by a standard CD release in most countries in the last week of 2007. The album was released in North America on 1 January 2008 on TBD Records. In Rainbows was Radiohead’s first release after the end of their contract with EMI and the end of the longest gap between studio albums in their career.

Recording with producer Nigel Godrich, Radiohead worked on In Rainbows for more than two years, beginning in early 2005. In between recording, the band toured Europe and North America for three months in mid-2006. The songwriting on In Rainbows was more personal than other Radiohead albums, with singer Thom Yorke describing most tracks as his versions of “seduction songs”. Radiohead incorporated a wide variety of musical styles and instruments, using not only electronic music and string arrangements, but also pianos, celestes, and the ondes Martenot.

Upon its retail release, In Rainbows entered the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200 at number one; by October 2008, it had sold more than three million copies worldwide in both digital and physical formats. The album earned widespread critical acclaim and was ranked as one of the best albums of 2007 by several publications. In 2009, it won two Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Special Limited Edition Package.
